2024 REIA Annual Conference and General Assembly Meeting
DATE: June 19 - 20, 2024
LOCATION : JOGMEC Headquarters, Tokyo (Japan)
18 June 2024 - Annual General Assembly Meeting (ONLY FOR MEMBERS) at Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting
Rare-earth elements (REEs) are essential materials for our well-being. The seventeen rare-earth elements are used for many advanced applications, such as electric vehicles, wind turbines, automobile catalysts, laser devices, and batteries. REEs continue to be critical contributors to the energy transition. The market has been characterized by various factors, including global demand, supply dynamics, geopolitical considerations, and environmental concerns. The increasing demand for electric vehicles and renewable energy sources has driven the need for rare-earth elements. Meanwhile advanced research focuses on finding alternative materials or technologies that can replace or reduce the reliance on rare-earth elements in certain applications. Innovations in recycling and extraction techniques are also being explored to minimize environmental impact and increase the sustainability of rare-earth technology. Balancing the demand for these elements with environmental sustainability and supply chain security is crucial for the continued advancement of high-tech industries.
Please join us in Tokyo for 2024 REIA Annual Conference to understand the evolving nature of the rare-earth market, technological developments, regulatory issues and circular economy strategies. The conference will bring together key stakeholders from the rare-earth sector, drawn from industry, academia, government and the investment community.
REIA Annual Conference will try to address pertinent questions such as:
- Will the supply of rare earths required for the energy transition be sufficient, and from where will it come?
- Where will rare-earth prices go, with ever-increasing demand?
- Will the criticality of rare earths change in the near future?
- What are the specific contributions that rare earths make to the energy transition?
- What technology and procurement decisions are OEMs and Tier 1 motor and generator manufacturers taking?
- What are the latest process technologies being developed for the production of rare earths?
- How do recycling and circular-economy strategies contribute to a resilient supply chain?
- How can stakeholders ensure that the supply chain is ESG compliant?
- What are institutional investors looking for in the rare-earth sector?
- Which current and future regulations and directives will have an impact on the rare-earth supply chain?
- What is the role of government in the creation of a robust rare-earth sector?
