Canada’s second largest R&T Organization, Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) joins REIA

SRC, a leader in the development of processing technologies, is working closely with mining companies in Saskatchewan, Canada and globally on the concentration and separation of REE ore. SRC’s Rare Earth Processing Facility, slated to be fully operational in 2024, will be a catalyst to stimulate the resource sector in Saskatchewan and across North America, providing the early-stage supply chain needed to generate industry investment and growth – an important piece of the puzzle in the energy transition.
SRC has decades of experience in concentration and separation technologies of REEs from various minerals, as well as operational experience. Jack Zhang and Baodong Zhao of SRC’s Rare Earth Element Division are co-authors of various papers and a book on rare earths separation. SRC has developed and piloted many REE concentration and separation processes for mining companies in Canada and across the world.
Dr. Muhammad Imran, Vice-President, Rare Earth Element, SRC, commented: “As part of SRC’s plan to build one of North America’s first rare earth processing facilities, we are excited to join REIA as it works towards a more innovative Rare Earth Element (REE) industry of the future. Engagement with key REE stakeholders worldwide and the ability to stay in tune with industry best practices through REIA will no doubt be a huge benefit to SRC as we continue to establish a REE technology hub in Saskatchewan.”
Dr Badrinath Veluri, President of REIA, said: “We are very pleased to add SRC to our rapidly increasing network of members and to further develop the already strong links we have with Canada. A warm welcome to SRC’s team and representative Dr. Muhammad Imran, Vice-President, Rare Earth Element. We look forward to working with them.”
