We’re thrilled to welcome Ascension to the Association!

Ascension has developed a new and unique process to extract rare earths from the ground – based on in-situ recovery and the application of geothermal heat. The process is designed to unlock the vast resources contained in global deposits of volcanic rock, while respecting the environment and communities. Capex–light, opex-light, modular and rapid to deploy, the process has the potential to facilitate project financing and permitting, while enabling a faster route to production.

Ascension is currently working on project sites in America, on Ascension Island, in Italy and in Kenya. Based in the UK, the company span out of the University of Oxford in 2024. Backers include Oxford Science Enterprises, East X Ventures and Global Brain.
